Hayward High accepts online courses that are accredited (e.g. WASC, NWCCU) .

While HHS does not provide endorsements, the following two online providers have been utilized by past HHS students:

1)
BYU Independent Study Courses
Most 5 unit non-college-prep courses cost $156 while most A-G courses cost $263.  Some 5 unit elective courses are $56 and $99.  Students can work on these online courses anywhere and anytime they want with the start date of their choice.
Final Exam: Each course includes a final exam that the student must order (electronic version is recommended).  HHS does not guarantee test proctors.  The only BYU test proctor at HHS is Mary Walsh and she is available on an extremely limited basis and by appointment only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings during zero period (7:10-8:05).  Also, view list of non-HHS proctors (fees applicable).  HHS counselors can recommend courses but do not provide further support or proctoring.
Transcript: It's important the student indicates "Hayward High School" as their school when creating their BYU profile so that HHS can access the BYU online transcript after the course is completed so the HHS Registrar can put the BYU course on the student's HHS transcript.

2)
UC SCOUT (University of California)
For 5 unit courses that are A-G select "Core On Demand" classes ($399) and must be done during the indicated course start and end dates.  (HHS does not provide teachers for the cheaper "Core Basic" classes.)

For other acceptable online providers on the west coast, check the WASC accreditation website.

To have the online course added to your HHS transcript, an official transcript from the online institution must be submitted to the HHS registrar and presented to your counselor if the course is a prerequisite to a course you want to take at HHS.
