HUSD students participated in the annual Skills USA Competition, a career technical education competition that supports career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms.
Students are judged on personal, workplace, and technical skills that are grounded in academics. Two Hayward High School/Eden Area ROP students, Maile Annunziato and Caden McWilliams, competed at the state and national competitions.
Our California Medalists:
Maile Annunziato: 1st place, First Responders, CPR
Instructors: Marlene McDowell & Fire Captain John Peters
Caden McWilliams: 3rd place, Auto Collision Repair, awarded $3,000 scholarship to UTI

The City Council presented Annunziato with a special Certificate of Commendation for her outstanding performance in the California State SkillsUSA Competition.
"Her hard work and dedication to training, both in the classroom and at the Hayward Fire Department's Drill Grounds, is an inspiration to her instructors and peers,” said Eric Vollmer, Deputy Chief of the Hayward Fire Department.
