TDAP Booster Shot

For the 2011-12 school year, a new State law now requires that all incoming 7th-12th graders get a whooping cough booster shot, called Tdap, before entering school. Students who have not received this booster shot prior to the beginning of the school year will not be allowed to start school. 7th through 12th grade students must have received a Tdap booster after their 7th birthday.

We encourage you to contact your child’s doctor now to schedule an immunization appointment. Some children may qualify for free immunizations through the Vaccines for Children Program. Proof of immunization must show a stamp or signature from the physician or health care provider.  Hayward High students are required to bring proof of immunization by May 15, 2011 to the attendance office in order to receive the final report card.

Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is widespread throughout California. This vaccine can help keep your child and family protected.

For more information about the law and where to get shots, please visit the Alameda County Health Department websites below or call the HUSD District Nurse’s Office at 723-3900, ext 1.

Parents and Guardians are a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to student success.  The pages to the left point to resources on this website that relate most to parents.  Hayward High welcomes your partnership as we prepare students for post-secondary education and career goals.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up for Zangle so that they can monitor their student's attendance, grades and more.   Parents and guardians may also monitor their student's grades by using a Progress Report form which their student gets filled out by his/her teachers.
