1 Gates Millennium Scholar receives full ride to UCLA
Irmary Garcia wins the highly-coveted Gates Scholarship which will pay for all college expenses including graduate school, starting with UCLA this Fall.
2 HHS achieves the biggest API Increase
HHS achieves the biggest API increase in District, a jump of 49 points from 2009 to 2010 Academic Performance Index (API), meeting growth targets schoolwide and in subgroups.

4 NCS Champion receives full ride to UC Berkeley
Jonte Grant, NCS champion in triple jump, reaches CIF State Championships in 3 events, the long jump, triple jump and high jump, earning himself a full athletic scholarship to Cal as an accomplished student-athlete.

6 Valedictorian Achieves Perfection
Fiona Greer, Class of 2011 Valedictorian, graduates with a  4.19 GPA, earning nothing but A's in all classes, including Honors & AP
7 College Going Rate Increases
The percentage of HHS graduates enrolled in college the Fall after graduation increases 7percentage points from 49% to 56% between 2005 and 2011.
8 Artists Honored
Alise Smith wins the Ken Cook Memorial Scholarship and is honored by Congresswoman Barbara Lee at the annual Congressional High School Art Competition.
9 "Challenge Day" Builds Community
Principal George Bullis and Teacher Jill Barbosa coordinate the first "Challenge Day," a life-changing, group experience that breaks down judgments and barriers while building school community.
