College Corner

Need info on college admissions timeline, types of colleges, financial aid, and important dates/deadlines/websites?  Check out the info posted here.

College applications: CSU and UC applications were due November 30.  A few CSU's are accepting late applications.  Private school applications are due between December and March.  

College acceptance letters: Schools send out acceptance letters December through March.  Bring a copy of your acceptance letters to the College & Career Center to be entered in a raffle!

College Representative Visits: Attend presentations by various colleges. Representatives visit HHS to provide information on programs, admission requirements, campus life, athletics, and more!  Stay tuned for upcoming visits.

College Preview Days: Visit schools on Preview Days to learn more about them and to see if they are a good fit for you!  Most schools have preview days in the Fall for seniors and in the Spring for juniors and sophomores.  You can also schedule tours outside of preview days and as a senior you can schedule an overnight visit to schools you applied to!

  • Chat with a UC Berkeley Alumnus about what it takes to get in and what it’s like in college
  • College application information and tips
  • Personal statement workshop – don’t wait until Fall to write your personal statement!

UCSC Presentation – during Junior Assembly

  • UCSC students will use spoken word and other methods to portray their stories of where they come from and what struggles they overcame to reach their goal of attending college
  • Admissions representative will provide info on applying to and getting in to UCSC

College Info Session – 6pm in the cafeteria (after Farmer Expo)

All students & parents are invited!

  • College options, application requirements, and admissions process & timeline
  • Financial aid overview & considerations presented by the Heartland Institute of Financial Education
  • ReadyEdgoGo (college admissions mentoring and assistance) will be on hand to help answer questions and provide info about their services

Reminders

College Info & Motivation Video!  Take part in Hayward High School’s first college info and motivation video.  We need Seniors to be interviewed for the video and Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen to help film, edit, and create the video.  Stop by the Career & College Center during lunch or after-school for more information and to be part of the video.

College acceptance letters – seniors, you can still bring a copy of your acceptance letters to the Career & College Center to be entered in a raffle.

College & Career Center Hours

The College & Career Tech (Ms. Zuckerbrow) is shared between Hayward High School and Tennyson High School.  Ms. Zuckerbrow is at Hayward High School at the following times:

Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:30am to 4:00pm

Every other Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm (check calendar on my staff page for dates)

 

Career Corner

Need help choosing a career?  Hayward High utilizes an online resource to assist students in finding a career or college major.  

Career Cruising is a web-based tool to assist HHS students in exploring a career that might be right for them.  Students should complete an online "Match Maker" assessment.

Username: hayward          Password: farmers

Once students have completed the on-line assessment, our Career & College Tech Ms. Zuckerbrow can further assist students in discovering more information about job and college major matches.

Explore careers options in each of the California Industry Sectors - learn about the job requirements, education needed, and schools offering programs of study for that career.
